When I was a junior in high school, I played on a baseball team that expected to compete for a state championship. Just the year before, we lost in extra innings for an opportunity to play in the state quarter-finals. Considering we had no players graduate from that team, you can imagine that expectations were high. However, we were upset early in the playoffs, and our season was over. The next year, when I was a senior, we unexpectedly had a better season and advanced a round further in the playoffs than when I was a junior. Admittedly, my junior year team was better than my senior year team, but we went further in the playoffs for one reason … we played as a team. It goes without saying that teamwork is important. Would you agree with me that teamwork applies in ministry too? I certainly believe it does, and a great team needs great teammates. God has blessed us with an excellent staff team at FBG, and He’s still assembling the team for His purposes. But, two of these wonderful teammates deserve special recognition because they recently completed ten years of faithful service to our church: JEAN BLUNKALL and JAYNE COLEMAN.
Jean and Jayne both began working at FBG in April 2007, just days apart. Undoubtedly, they have been a blessing to many, and I am confident I speak for all the team when I say how much we appreciate these two ladies.
Jean daily demonstrates a compassionate heart to help the hurting and point people to Jesus. She gives selflessly to aid in our benevolence ministry, and she encourages our team to push forward for the Gospel. She and her husband, Jerry, are a blessing to the Body of FBG, and we are thankful for her work on staff!
Jayne has been a key piece of the ministry at FBG in a variety of roles, including handling publications and assisting in student ministry. Jayne has planned many of the great events at FBG throughout the years, and you can guarantee that she will strive for excellence in whatever she does!
As some may know, Jayne has sensed God’s calling on her life to transition into a new ministry role in the marketplace as a realtor. At the end of May, she will officially complete her work at FBG on staff, and I speak for all the team when I say that she will be missed throughout the week! Knowing what kind of teammate she has been in the few months I’ve been here, I am confident that she will be a great asset to the Parks Realty team. Although she will no longer be on staff, Jayne and Andy will continue to faithfully serve our church, and we praise God for them!
Please be sure to thank God for Jean and Jayne and to pray for Jayne in her new role. We’ll look forward to recognizing them publicly on a Sunday morning in the coming weeks for their service.
CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU for ten years, Jean and Jayne! You two are great teammates, and your service no doubt makes our Heavenly Coach smile!
