I know, I really do. I know that at times I may deliver a message from the Bible, but I may be lacking on how it may apply to our lives on a daily basis. Or, there may be generic examples without nailing down specific opportunities.
Well, I want to highlight two upcoming events that I think fall under “Great Commission” opportunities right here in our Jerusalem. We can go on international mission trips, or trips outside of Gallatin, (and please hear me that I think such trips are needed, and I support them), but Gallatin has numerous needs and opportunities to be on mission for the Lord Jesus as well.
You may or may not be familiar with this fantastic ministry. If you have the opportunity to help do “Gospel Ministry” through serving our precious children here in Sumner County, I encourage you to do so. Over 200 children are scheduled to come to First Baptist on Saturday, August 5, and we have the privilege of helping these children start their new school year “stronger” with new clothes, shoes, and school supplies. We will also bless each child with a brand new Bible. Furthermore, many of us will have a chance to talk with the families and the children about how much God loves them through Christ. Finally, we will also feed them lunch before they leave. If you can volunteer to help on August 5, please call the church office. Also, even if you can’t be here to help serve, would you be willing to pray for the Lord to intervene in the lives of the families and children?
The second way for some of our ladies/moms to get involved with connecting with the community is through a new ministry that will launch this fall to try and build community with moms. Who is this group for on Wednesday mornings? It is for women who are looking to find community with other moms who are in a similar season of life. Our desire is to see moms who have yet to connect to Christ in a saving relationship, find Him. Moreover, we also want to help moms who do not have a church home find one right here with us at First Baptist. For our moms who can’t make this program during the middle of the day, know that we are praying for you as you are doing “Gospel Ministry” where the Lord has planted you. Even still, know that our “Grow Groups” are gender specific and will launch this coming September will provide an excellent opportunity to plug into community and discipleship with other ladies. These “Grow Groups” can meet at anytime or location.
As we draw to a close on the first section of Acts, I pray that each one of us will continue to engage folks with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Thank you for being His Church on mission for His renown.
Grace and peace,
