While I was growing up we moved around a bit with my father’s job. I have often found myself in the role of “new kid.” However, this time around it doesn’t feel like I’m the new kid, it feels like I’ve just met up with family I haven’t seen in a while. Thank you so much to each of you for your welcoming and hospitable spirit. I am beyond excited to be with you, and I look forward to serving with you.
My favorite Bible story (especially to teach children) is found in Joshua chapter 6 – it’s the story of the fall of Jericho. What I like most about this passage is that Joshua, no matter what the Lord tells him to do, never thinks twice or even questions the Lord’s instruction. God could have told him to crawl around the city on his stomach and Joshua would have done it. This is how I want the next generation of Christians to be built – strong in faith, rooted entirely in Christ Jesus. Joshua didn’t go rogue or try and rewrite the plan. He just trusted in what the Lord told him, and he showed great faith in his obedience to God.
It is my personal and professional goal that we follow Jesus with no questions asked. No matter how tall the walls of our Jericho are, may we march in boldness around it and shout victory.
I’m looking forward to my first fellowship event with all of you … the Easter Eggstravaganza! I want to personally invite not only you and your family, but any friends and guests you would like to bring with you. Bring neighbors, teammates, cousins … anyone you can think of. There will be plenty of candy, Easter eggs, and fun! It will be a wonderful time of connection not only for our church family, but for any un-churched family that may join us that day.
See you there!
