We are frequently asked many questions. That's great ... we have some answers:
How do I get there?
We are one block east of the square at the corner of Main Street and Boyers Street.
What do I wear?
We are more concerned with you than your clothes. You can dress up or wear casual clothing, either way you will be accepted.
Where do I park?
First time guests may enter the Vistitor parking lot on Main St. There will be large "Welcome" flags and signage directing you to guest parking. There is handicapped parking in the Main St. parking lot and in the lot behind the main building off of Smith Street. (see above map)
When I get there, where do I go?
We have a building with entry points on three different floors. Our building has been built on to twice. It is sometimes a confusing building to navigate. There are greeters at the front doors, the Boyers Street door near the raised crosswalk, and the double glass doors in the back of the building. These greeters have maps and will assist you in finding the worship center or the class room you are seeking.
How do I become a Christian?
Repent: turn away from your sin to follow God's new direction for your life. (Romans 3:23; Acts 3:19) Believe: Trust in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, for eternal life. (John 3:16) Confess: Acknowledge Jesus as the supreme authority over your life. (Romans 10:9, 13) Receive: Accept God?s free gift of salvation. (Romans 6:23; John 1:12)
How may I join?
By Baptism: When you have already personally committed your life to Jesus Christ, but have not yet been baptized by immersion as a public symbol of your faith. By Transfer of Letter: When you are a member of another Baptist church. By Statement: When you are a member of a church of like faith and practice, and have been baptized by immersion as a public symbol of your faith.
May I join a Bible study class without joining the church?
Of course! Though this is not church membership, it is an excellent way to get to know the FBCG folks and to learn more about the Bible and God's plan for you. Greeters are waiting to assist you in locating appropriate classes for you and your family.
When do I join?
At the close of the worship service as the song of response is being sung, walk up to one of the ministers and tell them of your decision. They will meet with you to help you understand your decision, answer any questions, pray with you, and secure the information necessary for our records. Usually, this takes just a few minutes.
I still have some questions!
This is not unusual. You are dealing with the most important decision of your life ... what you will do with Jesus! You are more than welcome to call any of our ministers at 615-452-5715.
Where can my children participate?
Preschoolers will have Sunday School during all three periods. Each period will have a different group of teachers and they will be doing different activities that center around one Bible story. Even though the Bible story will be the same, the children will learn through repetition.
Sunday School classes are at 9:45am for first through fifth grade. At 8:30 and 11:00am grades first through fifth are invited to attend Children's Worship. Our children worship in an exciting atmosphere with age-appropriate lessons and activities. Parents need to pick up their children after the service on the first floor.
Where do I go?
When you arrive on the campus you can enter through the Boyers Street entrance. You will enter on the second floor. The preschool hallway will be immediately to your right. Please use the check-in stations and proceed to your child's classroom. The classrooms are marked by age.
Elementary students will attend classes on the first floor. We have check-in stations as you enter the hallway.
Are there security measures in place for my child?
Yes. All parents are asked to use the computer check-in station and then take their children to their designated rooms and at the conclusion, pick him or her up. We ask that no children come or leave without a parent. All children will wear a two-part sticker. The child wears one part and the parent keeps the other half. When the parent returns to pick their child up, the teacher will compare the child's number to the parent's sticker number.
What happens if my child attends more than one service?
We encourage families to attend two hours of activities on Sundays – one hour for worship and one hour for Sunday School. Your child may attend the regular worship service with your family or attend Children’s Worship for grades 1-5 with activities planned especially for their age. Preschoolers will be involved in Sunday School for one hour and Extended Session during the worship hour. Both hours will have the same Bible story but incorporate different activities to reinforce the Bible truth.
Do you have activities other than Sunday?
Yes. There are activities for children on Wednesday evening as well. There is Childcare for bed babies through 1 year olds 6:00-7:30. Missions and KREW Music rotate on a two month schedule for 2 year olds through fifth grade from 6:00-7:30pm.
